Refresentasi budaya Tionghoa-Jawa dalam motif batik lasem
The thesis is titled "Culture Representations of Chinese-Javanese
Batik Lasem 's Motif'. The purpose of this study was to determine the icon,
index, and symbol in Chinese-Javanese culture through the motif v of Batik
Lasem and hidden meanings in it, where these all are parts of theCulture
Representations of Chinese-Javanese Batik Lasem 's Motif
The research method adopted in this study is a qualitative method of
Semiotics analysis approach formulated by Charles Sanders Peirce. While
the goal in this study is three types of Batik Lasemcloth which loaded with
signs and meanings, as for the question is: Red Dragon motif, Lock
Chanmotif, and Oriental motif. The samples were taken by purposive
sampling. The data collection techniques are performed by means of
observation, literature studies and depth interviews.
Based on the results of research and discussion, the three types of
batik motifsare derived to the following conclusions: 1. leons in each Lasem
motif discussed in this study illustrate the typical pattern from Lasem. The
Red Dragon motif contained the dragon image, latah, truntum jlowers,
thedominance of red color, with white background. The Lock Chan motif
shows the image of a lock chan bird, serit, lotus flower, the dominance of
red, white cloth base. While the Oriental motifcontained the image of four
China's letter, lanterns, latohan, serif, iruntum flowers, and
isensupplementary such as ungker, three bars, three points. 2. Index of all
those three motifs in this discussion representsthe acculturation between
Chinese and Javanese. 3. Batik motif's symbol discussed in the research
means luck or happiness, both in Red Dragon or Lock Chan motif, and so
Oriental motif.
