This Research on the identity of ethnicity child from the marriage of inter-ethnic Minangkabau and Javanese in Kelurahan Tengah. Locations were selected for Kelurahan Tengah because this location has very strategic position as isolated enclaves. The existence of the Kramat Jati market making business opportunies for the community that make the mobility of people who come from different arreas to the Kelurahan Tengah area is quite high. With so many people who come to this area, the chances of inter-ethnic marriages are very large. This study aims to determine how a child born of two different tribes parents determine their identity. This study used a qualitative approach with a focus ethnography analysis method of individual units (children) and parents who do inter-ethnic marriages Minangkabau and Javanese as many as three families in Kelurahan Tengah, East Jakarta. Data collected by observation, interview to make notes ethnography and secondary data collection . These results indicate that the identification of ethnicity children from inter-ethnic marriages (Minangkabau and Javanese) in a multiethnic urban areas (Jakarta) will vary depending on ethnic socialization in their family that they acquired throughout his life. Ethnicity identity of the child is still taking one or both parents ethnicity identity. But this identity is not back to normal, but a “new identity”. The new identity is a cultural construction that is loose, situational, conditional, not bound by territorial and always in the process of formation.
