Prevention and control of coronavirus infection disease (covid-19) at the community health center in the new normal
Introduction: The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has resulted in
limited health center dentist services. Health protocols as a reference for the
prevention and control of COVID-19 infection during the adaptation period for
new habits are important. This study aims to determine the prevention and
control of COVID-19 infection at the Bandung city community health center
during the adaptation period of new habits. Methods: The study was conducted
in a cross sectional manner with the method of observation and interviews with
dentists using a checklist form. The research sample consisted of 30 dentists
determined by purposive sampling. Results: the appropriate preparation stages
are clean water management, asking for verbal patient consent, management
and scheduling of treatments. Air regulation and space management
arrangements on average 50%; the pre-visit stage, implementation of
teledentistry detection and screening, informed consent as much as 67%; the
appropriate stage during the visit is to measure body temperature for patients,
isolation precautions on personal protective equipment only doctors wear gloves
and headcaps, transmission precautions only patients rinse their mouths before
the procedure. Detection and screening of patients during visits are still mostly
0%. The application of the concept of four handed dentistry is still below 50%;
the stage after the visit, the appropriate implementation is the management of
medical equipment. Cleaning the work environment, decontamination of medical
records 40%. Medical waste management, namely liquid waste management
with WWTP as much as 63.3%. Conclusion: The implementation of prevention
and control of COVID-19 infection in dental and oral health services at the
Bandung city community health center during new normal was not accordance
with the protocol. But still need to be improved, especially personal protective
equipment for patients at the stage of the visit
