Common Oral Manifestation Of Anemia In Children - Literature Review
Anemia is the most common blood disorder with oral manifestation. The reduction in the amount of circulating oxygen in return has many effects on oral cavities. Anemia occurs in many people, pregnant woman and children have the highest prevalence of anemia. The common oral manifestations of anemia in children are angular cheilitis, atrophic glossitis, mucosal pallor, geographic tongue and recurrent apthous stomatitis. Treatment and prevention of anemia can be done by treating the underlying cause which is commonly, nutrient deficiency. Balanced diet for children under the age of five is important to minimize the occurrence of anemia and to prevent any effect on mucosa. In dentistry, a dentist should be able to acknowledge should oral manifestations to determine the appropriate treatment planning of the oral lesions.
