Comparison Between Healthcare System in Indonesia and Malaysia (Literature Review)
Indonesia and Malaysia are situated in the Southeast Asia region with enormous social, economic and political diversity across the nation which in shaped by its history, geography and position of each respective countries. These factors not only contributed to the different health status of a diverse population but also the diverse nature of health services provided to them. The purpose of this literature review is to describe the comparison between the health care system in Indonesia and Malaysia.
The three main components of healthcare system being discussed here according to WHO 2010 is health financing, human resources and the services provided by the Indonesian and Malaysian healthcare systems respectively. Comparisons are being made according to those mentioned health components before between Indonesian and Malaysian healthcare system.
In conclusion, Malaysian healthcare system is slightly better than Indonesia in terms of centralised administration implemented in Malaysian public sector as well in terms of services provided with the fixed annual visits from dentists working under the public Ministry of Health to schoolchildren which has been implemented in the Ministry of Health programme for a long time.
