Textbook of clinical cariology. 2e
This second edition describes the biology of dental caries. The first edition was published in 1986. The new edition updates the research findings in cariology and emphasizes the clinical implications of research carried out in caries prevention and detection during the past decade. The purpose is to explain the biochemical, microbiological, immunological, pathological, and epidemiological aspects of dental caries to the dental clinician in a clear and coherent form. This text is primarily addressed to dental students and practitioners. However, the research content of the book makes it equally beneficial for the teachers and researchers in the field of dental caries. The contributors are respected teachers and researchers in cariology. The book contains predominantly line drawings, microphotographs, and radiographs. A few color pictures of pertinent clinical cases are also included. The findings of various research articles are presented in table and graph form. The illustrations are of good quality and sufficient quantity and are well described. A list of pertinent references is given at the end of each chapter. A useful index is also included. This well-written and nicely organized text updates the knowledge on the complex subject of biology, prevention, and diagnosis of dental caries. The timing of this new edition is critical because of recent advances in the understanding of caries. This new edition is equally useful for general practitioners and libraries.
